Inter target Edin Dzeko could not only stay at Roma this summer but also sign a new contract with the Giallorossi, claims Sky Sport Italia.

Dzeko has long been linked with a move to Inter, as one part of a hypothetical double deal with Romelu Lukaku.

However, the Nerazzurri have yet to meet Roma’s €20m asking price for the striker, while Juventus’ Gonzalo Higuain remains ambivalent to the idea of joining the Lupi.

According to Sky, new boss Paulo Fonseca has been impressed with the Bosnian’s work during the early part of his reign and views him as ‘an important player’.

With that in mind, the broadcaster believes Roma may tie the 33-year-old down to a new deal if no fee can be agreed with the Beneamata.

Alternatively, they could allow the former Manchester City hitman to run down his contract, which expires next summer.
