Gianluigi Donnarumma was the target of insults from an Italian fan following the Azzurri’s goalless draw with England.

The 23-year-old Italian goalkeeper had a good match against the Three Lions last night, making four saves and completing 32 of his 42 passes. Donnarumma has consistently proved to be on form for the Azzurri despite the rest of the squad’s issues in recent weeks.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, many fans were asking Donnarumma for a photo or autograph after the Azzurri’s Nations League draw with England last night, but one decided to act out; a supporter in the crowd decided to shout a number of insults at the Italian shot stopper, who in turn stopped and told the man to stop.

After a few seconds of talking, the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper stopped with some other fans, being supported by the Azzurri staff.

Donnarumma fell out with the Milan fans following his decision not to renew his contract with the club, something the supporters didn’t take well at all.

  1. The only thing he should be made aware of is that the goal by North Macedonia should have been Saved.

Not for making a professional decision to move to another club.

  2. @Brandon…

The Nazionale should have secured direct qualification from the group stage.

We should have been leading Switzerland in Bern prior to the subsequently missed penalty.

We should have beaten Bulgaria in Rome.

We should have beaten Switzerland in Rome.

We should have put 2 goals in the Macedonia net prior to the shot.

Have you ever played the goalkeeper position? Much easier to play striker than shot stopper.

  3. Vittorio,

Bulgaria match was in Florence but I see your point.

But no, it was a weak goal to give up to North Macedonia. He moved slower than a cement mixer. Unbelievably slow to react.

Some even say the goal by the Swiss in Rome should have been Saved. I’m not one of those. Seen it a few times and it was a hard shot. Remember in the dying seconds of that Swiss match at Home after the missed PK by Jorginho, he tried playing the ball with his feet and almost conceded a goal.

The Draw versus Switzerland at Home was not unfair. Probably the correct Result. But all other Draws should have been Wins based on expanded Stats.

But the one in Switzerland, as you wrote, should have been done and dusted inside 40 Minutes.

Still cannot believe Berardi missed a 1v1 with Yann Sommer from the Halfway line. To me that was even worse than the missed PK. At least Jorginho got outsmarted on the PK so credit Sommer. But on the breakaway, Berardi shot directly at Sommer. Inexcusable.

To me, missed qualification is on Berardi (also missed badly versus North Macedonia) and Jorginho.

  4. This guy needs to be ignored and that’s it.
Yesterday he to change things a bit gifted away a ball from his feet and by miracle it was not a goal.
Honestly, it is time to try with some other guys like Vicario who is great or even Cragno. Donnarumma is way overrated

  5. @Brandon…

    1. Very good point made. Yes, Donnarimma needs to improve his footwork.

    2. Hopefully, as the #1 keeper at PSG (Navas is heading out from what I have read-coaching decision made), he will improve dramatically.

    3. Yes, we really should have put the Swiss game away in Bern and beaten Bulgaria in Florence ( thanks for the correction-I was somehow thinking Rome for that qualifying match).

    4. He really was an imposing figure during the Euro penalties.

    5. Thoughts about his playing time at PSG this upcoming season as opportunities for improvement?

    6. Speaking as a fan and nowhere close to the skill level of professional futballers.

  6. The problem is the team became ravaged with injuries after the Euros and while they were good enough with the back ups to not lose they weren’t good enough with the backs ups to win. The goal against NM was all on DR Buffon never lets a ball like that get by him. DR while he is great let’s in a lot of easy balls, I get it he is still only 23 but I think he lets to many outside distractions get to his head and it messes with him.

  7. That gap-toothed clown is not as good as Donnarumma, no.

Judging by how many times Milanisti say and write it, it’s as if you are trying to convince yourselves.

  8. @ Brandon

Lolo lol of course he is, his x5 times as good with his feet. Mike is absolutely just as good as Donnarumma, we had 18(!!) clean sheets last seasons, don’t for a second take that away from him.

  9. I agree with Brandon.
First of all, we are bored and fed up of reading how good the new Milan goalkeeper is. Fine, if he is, then you do not need to tell us anymore.
I would like to point out that it 1978, Dino Zoff was heavily criticised for letting the 42 yarder from Arie Haan.
Four years later, Zoff proved to be the best in the world and help Italy win the World Cup. Everyone remembers where they were when he made that goal line save in the last minute against Brazil. It was the greatest save ever!
Donnarumma will do the same in four years’ time!
