Leo Ostigard is edging closer to joining Napoli as the Partenopei reach an agreement with Brighton.

Aurelio De Laurentiis’ side are set to purchase the 22-year-old Norwegian defender from Brighton for around €4m, with only the final details remaining before a deal is fully reached. Ostigard had a good season out on loan with Genoa and now he seems ready for the jump to a top side.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Napoli will give Ostigard a four-year contract worth around €700,000 net per season plus add-ons. He is being brought in to shore up the defence as Kalidou Koulibaly’s contract situation continues to chug along slowly.

De Laurentiis wants to convince the Senegalese defender to renew his contract, which expires next year. The last offer of €4m net per season, €2m lower than his current wages, was not accepted by Koulibaly. A new and improved offer is expected to arrive some time next week.

Should Koulibaly not renew his contract with Napoli, the club are lining up Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-jae as a possible replacement. He would cost around €20m.
