Roberto Donadoni admits that Parma are ‘in a state of emergency’, but says it will not condition their approach to facing Roma.

The Ducali head into their rearranged Week 22 fixture with Roma with Amauri and Alessandro Lucarelli suspended and Gabriel Paletta leading the list of fitness doubts.

Even so, it is not a situation the Coach says will change their mentality in facing Rudi Garcia’s team.

“We will see today the general conditions during the finishing touches in training, but it is likely that we will be in a state of emergency,” began Donadoni to reporters today.

“We will try to have an idea of the situation. I believe though that even the difficulties or sudden needs can help to bring out something different, we can also evaluate players in roles that are not regulars.

“Sometimes the choices can become surprisingly effective. But only when I have a picture of the situation will I evaluate everything.”

Parma saw a 17-game unbeaten run ended last midweek by Juventus and have since suffered a second consecutive defeat at the weekend to Lazio.

“The last two games have produced two defeats, but there was much expression on the field in Turin and Rome. We did not deserve to lose. We should evaluate the energy expended, whilst the players are doing something significant from the physical point of view.

“Only the results were negative, we were not inferior to our opponents. Now we have to restart from here, not look back.

“This is a moment where we need the contribution of everyone, even if we know we can rely on our own strength, everyone needs to give a little bit more. I am convinced that we can give the best we can, because I know the players.

“I expect a Roma side to play like Roma. They are second in the table, we will look to give the best of ourselves in our current condition.

“Thinking of going there to limit the damage would be a wrong notion, we must do what we are accustomed to.

“The fight for Europa League qualification is a great motivation, we know that we can play.”
