Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero says the Azzurri 'have vision' for Euro 2016 and discusses Francesco Totti's contract.

The Old Lady's iconic number 10 retired as a player in 2012, but he has been keeping a close eye on his home club's progress since then.

“Witnessing their victories, even from the outside, makes me proud.” he told the Press at a Vespa show in Turin, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I was at the Olimpico for the Coppa Italia final. We didn't play well, but we picked up a result nonetheless, and this confirms the strength of the team.

“Juve confirmed their strength in Europe, too, reaching the final against Barcelona and making it 30 seconds away from qualification against Bayern Munich this year.

“Confidence and self-esteem are established, now they're missing the last step, which isn't easy at all. Winning in Europe isn't a given even for those who spend twice as much as their rivals, but Juventus have the quality needed to do well, just like in the last two years.”

Pinturicchio then had time for a mention of Coach Antonio Conte and his upcoming Euro 2016 expedition.

“It's a shame that Conte didn't call me up, I didn't expect that and I deserved better,” Del Piero laughed. “The Azzurri are in the ideal conditions. They are not the favourites, but they are under the right pressure.

“Their team is solid and they have a clear vision. Unity of intent is fundamental. Everything is possible and that's especially true at the Euros, Denmark and Greece have taught us that.

“When you are united against everyone, you can do anything. [New Coach Giampiero] Ventura? He has a great level of experience, and everything it takes to do well with the national team.”

Finally, the 41-year-old discussed his old colleague Francesco Totti, who recently signed a one-year extension of his contract.

“There are many things we have in common, but also great differences. All I can say is that I'm happy for him and for Roma, they took another step together.”
