Daniele De Rossi has conceded that it would take something extraordinary to see Roma finish in the top three this season.

The Giallorossi are presently joint-seventh in Serie A, but 12 points behind leaders Juventus and 10 shy of Milan and Udinese.

“The aim is to try and get into the top three and qualify for the Champions League,” the midfielder told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“However, I have to admit that it would take a miracle for that to happen.”

Roma have made some massive changes over the last 12 months – alterations which have seen the arrival of new owners, club management, players and an inexperienced boss.

Luis Enrique was appointed as Coach in the capital over the summer after previously taking charge of Barcelona B in Spain.

“It’s hard to compare Luis Enrique with any other Coach that I know,” the 28-year-old continued when asked about the under pressure tactician.

“If I had to say someone then it would be Luciano Spalletti. While he was in charge, we started to play really well after the Christmas break.

“Sometimes Coaches just need a little bit of time before they succeed.”

Roma have lost their last two in Serie A and entertain League leaders Juventus at the Olimpico on Monday evening.
