Manchester United and City have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race for Matthijs de Ligt, who is pushing to leave Juventus.

The Bianconeri director Maurizio Arrivabene has confirmed to Tuttosport that the Netherlands international is willing to leave Turin after a three-year spell at the Allianz Stadium.

Juventus CEO admits Chelsea target De Ligt wants to leave

Chelsea have opened talks with the Serie A giants, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester City and United are also interested.

Pep Guardiola and Erik ten Hag are long-time admirers of the 22-year-old, who worked with the Red Devils’ boss at Ajax before his €85.5m move to Juventus in 2019.

De Ligt scored eight goals in 117 appearances with the Bianconeri and has a €120m release clause included in his contract with the Serie A giants. Juventus want to sell him for a plain cash offer without including any player in a swap deal.

The only offer they’ve received so far is from Chelsea: €40m plus Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic.

Football Italia understands that Juventus could sit down with potential suitors for an offer in the region of €90-100m.

Juventus wanted to extend De Ligt’s contract, but the player has put negotiations on hold, asking to leave the Bianconeri in the summer.

Juventus were even open to lowering his release clause but will now listen to offers for the former Ajax captain.

  1. The signing of Cr7 began a cataclysmic series of events that has eventually led to the destruction of this team. Absolute garbage.

  2. @mg without corona, Juve and Italian football in general, would be in a completely different state.
Don’t blame it on the Ronaldo signing. Him and Lukaku did wonders for the league.

  3. At least Serie A has homegrown talent and a competitive league. The EPL has become competitive only in so far as the clubs with huge funds dominating. And the decrease in English stars at top clubs shows up England for all its pretensions.

  4. Corona definitely hurt all Italian teams but it really hurt Juve bc they decided to start paying higher wages for those free transfers. Ronaldo made it worse bc he was the biggest footprint. Juve need to go back to buying potential and mix it with some vets. Until they get someone like marrota back, they will continue to be sub par.

  5. @MG

You are right , CR7 totally demolished Juve’s teamwork. It will take long time to get back on track.

  6. Arrivabena is cleaning up Partaci’s bad contracts. Nothing against the players, but their wages did not justify their play.

  7. CALMAAA!!!

Nobody needs to panic. Juve have literally one recognised striker now but all is good. PhD Max can shuffle Dusan into the defence. After all he is big, tall and has great aerial ability. New formation for 4th spot tripleta will be 11-0-0 with Sun Tzu Max looking for scraps and a 0-0 draw. That is worth 3pts to him.

  8. LORD ALLEGRI PATRON SAINT OF SLOW BALL – why do you utter so much nonsenical jibberish in your comments? Seriously. You are obsessed with Allegri.

  9. @Kai, we get it but the funny thing is this LORD character has been right about many things. I have been posting here for about a year and he warned everyone about Allegri. The problem is too many fans thought that he would restore greatness and the title would be heading back to Turin. Until they rid themselves of a few people in the boardroom and Allegri, nothing will change. It is sad to see such a great club having to play on the counter attack, even at home against lesser teams.

  10. @The Queens Half Corgi. He might be right about all the defensive talk it’s just the way he writes it.. whenever I see the title I’m like ffs here we go again.. saint patron lol. But yeah I agree Allegri with all Anti Allegri things. He should be coaching Catania wherever they are lol.

  11. The thing is in his first Stint he had the complete midfield in Pirlo, Vidal, Pogba and Marchisio.. and this time around he has utter rubbish. Locatelli is the only one capable of football. The rest aren’t attacking players in the middle so Lord Allegri makes them play in such a way. If the midfield is strengthened then watch the “defensive” Juve succeed. Its not all Allegri even though I hate the guys guts and approach.

I don’t consider CR7 to be phenomenal in Juve shirt. He was great, but his efficiency was close to Ale DP or Trezeguet. But after his arrival Juve scored less goals per season, lost the Italian Cup, then the Scudetto, and turned into a last 16 but not 8 team in the CL. If you call 1 goal out of 89 free kicks a wonder, than I’m speechless. He was good, oh yeah, I agree. But he didn’t improve the team. And that was the main rwason Juve signed him
