Jose Mourinho confirms Inter and Juventus target Matteo Darmian wants to leave Manchester United.

The Italy full-back has been at Old Trafford since 2015, when he signed from Torino.

However, he has become frustrated by a lack of regular first team football with the Red Devils, triggering heavy links with a move back to his homeland this summer.

And speaking after his side beat Milan in a penalty shootout in last night’s International Champions Cup match, Mourinho admitted the 28-year-old sees his future away from Manchester.

“Matteo wants to leave. I think that when that becomes clear it is right that, with the right offer, you accept it,” the Portuguese commented.

“It’s right that he follows his instinct.”

Despite Darmian’s stance, Mourinho insists the Italian will only leave for the right offer and even sees the player having an important role at Old Trafford should he stay.

“The offers we have received for him up until now have not come close to being accepted.

“In his role, we are not very well stocked right now. [Antonio] Valencia is injured, [Diego] Dalot is recovering. Neither of them will be ready for the start of the season.

“[Ashley] Young is an option for the right but he is on holiday at the moment.

“So Matteo will only leave if the right offer comes in. Otherwise he could have an important role for us.”
