Cristiano Ronaldo seems destined to leave Manchester United in January and whispers are starting to emerge regarding a possible return to Serie A.

The 37-year-old Portuguese star thrust himself into the limelight after carrying out a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan recently, where he stated his lack of respect for Erik ten Hag, Manchester United’s failure to evolve and his unhappiness at the club. Ronaldo seems certain to leave the Red Devils in January, sparking speculation about his next club.

The current favourites to sign Ronaldo in January appears to be his first team Sporting CP, with bookmakers in England giving that move 3/1 odds. Behind that in second place is a move to the Toddy Boehly-backed Chelsea with 4/1 odds and completing the podium is an unnamed club in the MLS, sat at 6/1 odds.

Whilst it may be less likely, a return to Italy cannot be ruled out; current indications suggest that moves to Napoli (12/1) and Roma (16/1) are both possibilities, although it’s still unclear how either club would be able to afford his extraordinary wages.

The arrival of Ronaldo to either Italian club would give them a key attacking boost and could be the difference maker in their respective goals for the season, with Napoli hungry for the Scudetto and Roma fighting for a top four finish.

The five time Ballon d’Or winner has already proven his abilities in Italy before, scoring 101 goals and providing 22 assists in 134 appearances across all competitions for Juventus

  1. Hope to G*d that Ronaldo doesn’t come to Napoli. He’d almost definitely disrupt the harmonious dressing room environment and team-first mentality.

  2. The way things have played out, it makes so much sense to go to Roma. For him, reunite with Mourinho, play in the capital city, and have a reasonable chance to get them into the Champions League. For them, they’ve been trying to grow their brand globally for years as well as get a new stadium – this would certainly help. Abraham is also struggling and goalscoring is their number one weakness right now. Win-win.

  3. I honestly don’t think Ronaldo would disrupt the dressing room in Napoli. I think he’d be happy to be there and we’d see a much better attitude on and off the pitch. With that being said I watch every single Napoli game and have watched multiple Man United games this year and I don’t think Ronaldo would fit in Napoli’s style of play at all. I don’t think a temporary boost in fake Napoli fans wouldn’t outweigh the fact that they most likely would play more poorly with Ronaldo and could end up blowing the Scudetto and being knocked out of Champions by Frankfurt if he arrived.

  4. Muto that would be a terrible deal.. One of the brightest talents Milan has had for the last 10 years traded for a 37 year old rotten apple that has occasional hints of brilliance. The dressing room can only handle so much ego. Ibra gets away with it because he loves Milan and we love him back. Ronaldo would not submit to the importance of the group like Ibra has.

  5. CALMAAA!!!

Ronaldo must return to the 7/9 to complete his defensive trainings with PhD Obi Wan Max.
