Antonio Conte was appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager today, but he might not be on the bench for the Europa Conference League game with Vitesse due to work permit issues.

The former Inter, Chelsea and Juventus coach was given the role today after Nuno Espirito Santo was fired.

Although he has already won the Premier League at the helm of Chelsea, the work permit situation has changed following Brexit.

That means Conte must apply for a work permit and that can take a few days to come through.

The 52-year-old Italian was observing the Spurs training session today, but did not lead the session or technically organise it either.

Conte might not be on the bench or in their press conference for Thursday’s Europa Conference League fixture against Vitesse.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia, the aim is to get Conte on the bench for this weekend against Everton.

His first home game won’t be until Leeds United on November 21, after the break for international duty.

  1. Can we stop with the Conte news?

We all got it – he left Serie A, so why bother bothering the readers with it?
