Antonio Conte’s Tottenham have already leapfrogged Manchester United in the Premier League table and are just four points off a Champions League placement.

Tottenham beat Leeds United 2-1 yesterday, giving Conte his first Premier League win as Spurs’ coach.

Before the break, he had picked up a 0-0 draw against Everton in his first league match in charge of Spurs.

Conte arrived in North London after being considered for the Manchester United job at the end of October. However, the Red Devils’ opted to stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, snubbing the chance to get the former Inter and Juventus coach.

The former striker has then left United by mutual agreement after defeats against Manchester City and Claudio Ranieri’s Watford and Conte took just two games to overtake the Red Devils in the table.

Spurs were two points behind United when Conte arrived in North London, while now United have 17 points against Tottenham’s 19.

Conte has spoken about his first few weeks in charge of Tottenham in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport and set the top-four finish as his target for this season.

“We have a young team with ample room for improvement,” he said.

“We don’t have much experience but we must make up for it with hard work and enthusiasm. We’d be happy to earn a top-four finish, that would mean to leapfrog one of the best four clubs.”

  1. Why is FI still going on about Conte or Ronaldo when they’re no longer in Italy? I don’t see anything said about Ancelotti at Real Madrid or De Zerbi at Shakthar Donetsk. I have no interest in knowing about what they’re doing over in the EPL.

  2. To the FI staff, I don’t see any issue with reporting on all subjects that have to do with Italian Football – domestic or international. (Perhaps the Ukrainian language Italian Football website has more on De Zerbi). I do, however, have an issue with the pop-up video player that continually needs stopping and minimizing with EVERY SINGLE page load. This will drive me away from FI long before coverage of Italian Footballers abroad will.

  3. Man I love England. They lift you up over there, Conte is literally treated like a rock star.
I love this England – Italy connection, it’s fantastic.

  4. I couldn`t care less about what Conte is doing over there. This is not related to Italian football any more.
