Former Fiorentina striker Francesco Baiano believes Dusan Vlahovic has a similar sense of goal as Gabriel Batistuta, although it is ‘still too early’ to draw comparisons.

Vlahovic scored a decisive brace in Fiorentina’s 4-3 win over Milan on Saturday.

He is the second most prolific striker in Europe’s top five leagues in 2021, only second to Robert Lewandowski.

Vlahovic follows in Ibrahimovic’s footsteps

“He is still far away from Batistuta, but from what Italiano says, Vlahovic must have an incredible commitment, like Bati,” Baiano a former Fiorentina striker and teammate of Batistuta in Florence, told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Vlahovic’s improvements over the last year have been impressive. Like Bati, he feels the goal without even looking at it.

“They could kick with a blindfold on and still be able to score. However, to get to Batistuta’s levels, he must be consistent and become the best player in a top team.”
