Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto De Zerbi and Andrea Pirlo are only some of the Italian coaches currently working in clubs outside Serie A and Football Italia offers an overview of their results so far this season.

Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid)

His Real Madrid side are on top of La Liga with 25 points in nine matches. They beat Barcelona 3-1 last week and are still unbeaten in 13 matches across all competitions. They top the Champions League Group F with 10 points in four games. Carletto has already won the European Supercup this season.

Antonio Conte (Tottenham)

The Spurs boss will meet Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United tonight and a win would help him climb just two points behind table leaders Arsenal. Tottenham won seven games, drew two and lost one in Premier League and top the Champions League Group D with seven points, but have two tricky games coming up against Sporting CP and Olympique de Marseille.

Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton & Hove Albion)

The ex-Sassuolo boss has only collected two points in his first four Premier League matches in charge of Brighton & Hove Albion, who appointed him last month to replace Graham Potter. De Zerbi started his life in the Premier League with an impressive 3-3 draw at Anfield against Liverpool but suffered back-to-back defeats to Tottenham and Brentford, drawing last night’s match against Nottingham Forest. They didn’t score in the last three matches.

Gennaro Gattuso (Valencia)

Valencia have had a decent start to the season with four wins, three draws and as many defeats in the opening 10 La Liga rounds. They are in the race for a European placement and just four points behind Betis in fourth. They have the fourth-best attack after Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic Club with 17 goals scored so far. However, they have also conceded 11, the most after Rayo Vallejano in the current top 10.

Vincenzo Montella (Adana Demirspor)

The ex-Fiorentina and Milan coach is flying despite the sale of Mario Balotelli on the deadline day. His Adana Demirspor side are on top of the Turkish Super Lig with 21 points in 10 games. They’ve lost just once so far, winning six and drawing three.

Andrea Pirlo (Karagumruk)

He is another Italian coach in the Turkish league, but Il Maestro can’t be happy with his experience abroad so far. The ex-Juventus boss has won just two games out of nine and last week’s win over Hatayspor could have saved his job given that Turkish media had claimed he would have been sacked without a victory.

The others

There’s a third Italian coach abroad, Francesco Farioli, in charge of Alanyaspor, who has collected 12 points in 10 games, so three more than Pirlo. Former Perugia boss Serse Cosimi won the last two Croatian league games against HNK Gorica and Lokomotiva Zagreb, climbing to eighth (out of 10). Paolo Tramezzani and Mario Balotelli’s Sion sit third in the Swiss Super League after last week’s loss to Winterthur.
