While Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea struggles continue, Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham are shining for Milan and Roma and have a better minute-per goal ratio than the former Inter striker.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge in a €113m deal from the Stadio Meazza in the summer but has been struggling to justify his price tag this season. The 28-year-old had been left on the bench in Chelsea’s 2-0 Champions League win over Lille last week and was introduced in the second half of yesterday’s Carabao Cup Final won by Liverpool.

Gazzetta: unhappy Lukaku wants Inter return

He has scored 10 goals in 29 appearances this term, one every 203 minutes. According to reports in Italy, he would like to return to Inter at the end of the season, but the Nerazzurri want to cut costs and are not planning to welcome their ex-star back at San Siro.

Lukaku has been outscored by former Chelsea strikers Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham who have a better minute-per goal ratio than the 28-year-old.

Giroud has also scored 10 goals, but in just 25 appearances with Milan, so one every 156 minutes. Abraham has even scored more goals than Lukaku, having managed 19 goals in 35 games, one every 145 minutes.

Abraham joined Roma for €40m in the summer and Chelsea have an €80m clause to re-sign the product of their academy in 2023.
