Milan are desperate to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League this season, a goal that would reportedly bring them at least €60m in revenue.

The Rossoneri currently sit third in Group E after four games, picking up four points after losses to Chelsea, a draw with RB Salzburg and a win over Dinamo Zagreb. The pressure is now on Stefano Pioli and his squad with two games to go and they’re desperate to reach the Round of 16 of the competition.

As detailed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, qualifying for the Round of 16 of the Champions League would bring Milan around €60m total in revenues from UEFA and it could be raised even higher.

€9.6m would come from the progression to the knock-out stages alone but higher figures would come from the market pool, which will increase even if Juventus or Inter fail to reach the Round of 16. Revenues from the box office also cannot be forgotten, as the big match against Chelsea saw them take home just under €7m.

Wins in the competition generate further income and their final takings from UEFA could be more than €60m for the entire season should they progress in the tournament.

  1. these pointless articles are only ever written about Milan. If qualification is worth 60m to them, it’s worth about the same to all the other italian clubs.
