Antonio Cassano “turned down the chance to play for Juventus so I could go and play with Francesco Totti, the best Italian player of all time.”

FantAntonio sat down with Totti in the Colosseum this evening, as the Roma legend presented his autobiography 'Un Capitano' on his 42nd birthday.

“In football terms, Cassano is the best I’ve ever played with, taking nothing away from the rest,” said Totti.

“We talked the same language on the field. We spent a lot of time together when he first arrived at Roma.”

Cassano was fulsome in his praise of the birthday boy.

“I turned down the chance to play for Juventus so I could go and play with Francesco Totti, the best Italian player of all time.

“He made history. He could’ve won a couple of Ballon d’Or trophies elsewhere, but he remained faithful to his people and his team.

“Plus his family practically adopted me when I came to Rome. Fiorella treated my like a third son and she must’ve made a pact with the devil, as she’s still young. His father is filling out a little, though…”

Totti replied: “It’s all good health!”
