Gennaro Gattuso admits Milan didn’t kill the game in their 1-1 draw with Empoli. “We are not a great team and we are not efficient.”

The Rossoneri still have a game in hand against Genoa, but the fact remains they have only six points from five rounds.

Above all, they haven’t kept a single clean sheet and dropped seven points from winning positions, more than any other side in the league this season.

Above all, they haven’t kept a single clean sheet and dropped seven points from winning positions, more than any other side in the league this season.

“We created so many chances in both the first and second half, then an error can happen, even if it was very costly,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The problem we have is killing games off, because we did very well even without an important player like Gonzalo Higuain, so Fabio Borini had to adapt.

“We hope to have Higuain back on Sunday against Sassuolo. It’s not serious, but the doctors will evaluate him tomorrow.

“Once again we are here talking about an unlucky outcome, but we must look forward and work on our finishing. When you systematically make a few too many errors, a little confidence does fall away and we can’t deny that. We’ve got to focus.”

Alessio Romagnoli had been excellent until the horrible clearance straight at Levan Mchedlidze for the penalty.

“I don’t have to say anything to Romagnoli. If I need to talk to him, then I also need to talk to those who had four or five chances and didn’t score. Errors can happen, you just have to make sure they’re not costly.

“We are not a great team and we are not efficient. We have to grow, whittle down some errors and work hard. If we keep playing like this, then sooner or later the results will come.”

This is the second game in a row where Milan have taken the lead only to slow the tempo and become complacent after a 2-2 draw with Atalanta.

“We went a bit too deep and tried to control the game, but until the penalty, we had run no risks at all.”
