Jose Callejon says “we don’t have to make a drama” out of Napoli’s recent dip in form – “we remain a point behind the current leaders…”

The Partenopei haven’t won in three games across all competitions, and have scored just three goals in their previous five Serie A games, allowing Inter to move to the top of the table.

“You’re exaggerating, it’s a momentary and human dip,” Callejon shrugged, speaking to Corriere dello Sport.

“With a lot of games in quick succession it can happen, we don’t have to make a drama out of it. In fact, we should consider that, despite everything, we remain a point behind the current leaders.

“We’re missing [Faouzi] Ghoulan and [Arkadiusz] Milik, two injuries which have taken so much from us and it’s true we’ve been less dominant that in September or in October. I think that’s normal though, it’ll affect the others too.

Juventus? They beat us 1-0 but they didn’t deserve it. It’s a loss that stings because of how it went and also because we had the chance to really put some distance between ourselves and them, but we didn’t make a drama of it.

“I dream of a beautiful summer, the Scudetto and then the World Cup with Spain. There are five of us in the race for the Scudetto [Napoli, Inter, Juventus, Roma and Lazio], we’re all within eight points of each other.

“Almost all of the head-to-head games have been played and they’ve underlined an extraordinary balance.”

Napoli have been knocked out of the Champions League, could that actually give them an edge in the title race?

“I’d never give up these kind of matches, like all of us at Napoli who play at certain levels, I want the Champions League.

“We don’t make distinctions, nor calculations with the league. We have to accept the results on the pitch though, the others were better. Now there’s the Europa League and we won’t be taking it lightly.”
