This would make it the third different line-up in as many games for Ancelotti so far this season, a marked difference from predecessor Maurizio Sarri’s set XI.
When it comes to these two players, however, the decision to leave them out would be nothing short of remarkable.
The last Serie A match that Callejon didn’t start was a 2-0 win over Genoa on February 10, 2017 – and that’s because he was suspended after a red card against Bologna.
The Spanish winger has made 54 Serie A starts in a row.
In fact, the last time Callejon was available for selection and didn’t start was a 0-0 away to Carpi on September 23, 2015.
Many mocked Sarri for always replacing Hamsik around the hour mark, but that’s because the captain is ever-present.
The last time the Slovakia international failed to feature in a Serie A match was their 1-0 defeat at Roma on April 4, 2015, as he remained on the bench.
Since then, Hamsik has either started or been a substitute in the next 125 Serie A rounds.
