Genoa have reportedly hired Davide Capello, the former goalkeeper who miraculously survived the Ponte Morandi collapse.

Ex-Cagliari ‘keeper Capello was driving across the iconic bridge when it crumbled on August 14.

Although his car plunged around 30 metres, it became stuck in some rubble and he emerged unscathed.

Now Il Secolo XIX newspaper reports Genoa football club have given Capello a job as goalkeeping coach in their Under-14s youth academy.

He had still been playing for amateur side Legino, while also working as a firefighter.

There were 43 people killed by the bridge collapse.
