Davide Frattesi has not disguised his frustration at the failed transfer to Roma, but it’s now reported he could reunite with ex-Sassuolo coach Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton.

The 23-year-old midfielder is a born and bred Roma supporter who came up through their academy before his sale to Sassuolo in 2017.

He was in intensive negotiations all summer for a return to the Stadio Olimpico, which fell through over the €30m asking price.

Now Tuttomercatoweb point out that a January move is entirely possible for Frattesi, heading towards the Premier League.

It would be a reunion with former Sassuolo coach De Zerbi, who is now in charge of Brighton and Hove Albion.

The asking price could also have dropped slightly, although Roma are still owed 30 per cent of the sell-on fee as part of their original €5m transfer.

Milan are also interested in Frattesi, but would not be able to spend that much on a midfield reinforcement at this time.
