According to the latest reports, Torino and Netherlands international defender Perr Schuurs will not require surgery after dislocating his shoulder.

The centre-back sustained the traumatic injury to his right shoulder due to an awkward fall during the 2-0 Serie A victory over Sampdoria on November 9.

Coach Ivan Juric had spoken of the need for a specialist consultation set for this week in the Netherlands and that the club medical staff were worried surgery would mean a very long lay-off.

Now DAZN Italia report that the examination allowed Schuurs and Toro to breathe a sigh of relief, as it was found that an operation to stabilise the shoulder will not be necessary.

The former Ajax defender was not part of the Dutch squad for the 2022 World Cup anyway.

He will celebrate his 23rd birthday later this month.

Schuurs has so far made 10 Serie A appearances for Torino, plus one โ€“ with a goal โ€“ in the Coppa Italia since the โ‚ฌ9m plus bonuses transfer from Ajax.
