Marco Borriello has revealed that he “could have joined Real Madrid or Manchester United” when leaving Milan in 2010.

Cagliari became Borriello’s 14th club last month, but the striker claims his career could have taken a very different trajectory had he decided to leave Italy for Spain or England instead of staying in his native country with Roma.

“I could’ve gone to Real Madrid or Manchester United, but I chose Italy and stayed there with a big club,” the veteran told Libero.
