The Old Lady are known to be in the market for a new defender to compensate for the probable departure of Daniele Rugani to Chelsea.

And it is now claimed the 31-year-old is in line to head back to Turin, where he won Serie A in six of the seven seasons he spent there after moving from Bari in 2010.

According to Gazzetta, Milan would be happy to allow Bonucci to leave if it improves their chances of landing forward Higuain.

Furthermore, it would allow the Rossoneri some much needed room for manoeuvre on their wage bill.

Bonucci has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the summer but the Italian daily believes a Juve return would be his preferred option.
