Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic was discharged from hospital yesterday following a round of leukaemia treatment and, according to reports in Italy, he could sit on the bench against Venezia on Sunday.

The former defender announced a new cycle of treatment at the end of March and remained at the Sant’Orsola Hospital in Bologna for over a month. He was discharged yesterday in ‘good condition’ and all three Italian sports papers – Gazzetta, Tuttosport and Corriere dello Sport – report that he could return on the bench against Venezia on Sunday.

Mihajlovic had returned to his house in Rome yesterday and his wife Arianna posted a picture with him in the morning.

According to Gazzetta, Miha will likely meet his players at the club’s training centre on Thursday. He will decide whether to travel to Venezia with his lads after one or two days.

Mihajlovic already made an emotional return to the bench at the beginning of the 2019-20 campaign for Verona-Bologna, the first match of the season in Serie A. He had been diagnosed with leukaemia only six weeks earlier.
