Rafa Benitez feels he can only blame bad luck for Inter's run of bad results after a disappointing draw at Lecce.

“We had many scoring opportunities, but were unable to finalise them,” he said of their second consecutive 1-1 stalemate.

“I hope that in future we can have better lick. At this moment we need everybody, so players like Diego Milito and Dejan Stankovic can without doubt give greater intensity to the side.

“If the team is not playing with much intensity, then the responsibility lies with everybody and all of us must do our best to improve.”

Inter are sliding down the standings and will go into the derby on Sunday evening three points behind new leaders Milan.

“It all depends on us,” insisted Benitez. “The next match is the derby and if we win that, then we'll catch Milan.”

When asked why the Nerazzurri were doing significantly worse than at this stage last season, he insisted the other sides had changed.

“This year there are teams like Milan and Juventus who have far stronger squads than last term. In the past season there were only Inter and Roma fighting for the Scudetto, but now it is different.”
