Gonzalo Higuain is pushing for a move to Chelsea, via his parent club Juventus, and Milan director Leonardo has remained in Italy for meetings rather than follow the team to Jeddah for tomorrow’s Supercoppa match.

It’s reported Leonardo will continue discussions with Genoa on Wednesday, with the offer of an expensive six-month loan and €40m option to buy at the end of the season.

Genoa in turn are looking for a replacement and there are suggestions in ItaSportPress that the first choice is Balotelli.

He already worked well with Coach Cesare Prandelli for Italy and has been frozen out at Nice following a series of rows with Patrick Vieira.

Balo had been close to Marseille, but L’Equipe claims they are struggling to justify his €5m per year salary.

It would also be a serious problem for Genoa, but they hope to convince him playing in Serie A will help him get back into the Italy squad.
