Milan already won 4-1 at Empoli and Juventus lost 3-1 to Genoa, so a victory would put the Giallorossi in joint second place, just four points off the leaders.

“We always try to win games and the particular motivation of other results should be irrelevant,” he told Mediaset Premium.

Baldissoni shrugged off the suggestion this team depends too heavily on Edin Dzeko.

“It’d be a problem if Roma depended on only one player. Obviously when the centre-forward is in great shape, his importance is more visible in terms of points, but Roma are made up of many world class players.

“Nobody here feels they are more important than anyone else. What we do ask ourselves about is the occasional blackout, a characteristic that Roma have always had over the years.

“The players perhaps absorb the positive and negative emotions of the city. That can be an advantage, but also an obstacle. It’s difficult to keep the concentration levels up. It’s difficult to work on mentality and emotion in training.”

There are contract renegotiations in progress with De Rossi, Luciano Spalletti, Radja Nainggolan and Kostas Manolas.

“Daniele, much like Francesco Totti, is a special player who has his home here and the rapport goes beyond the normal dynamics of contracts.

“We’ll talk about it later on. We see no reason not to continue our rapport, so we’ll discuss it calmly.

“There are many players who are waiting for an improved contract, but it’s not a problem for us, because Manolas and Nainggolan have a long way to go on their current deals.”
