Lautaro Martinez has a slight muscular issue in his back and will therefore miss the friendly with Dynamo Kiev, but he’s suspended for the Serie A opener with Genoa anyway.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Argentina international felt a twinge in his psoas muscle, in the lower lumbar region of the spine.

Out of an abundance of precaution, he will be rested for the upcoming friendly against Dynamo Kiev, which will be played behind closed doors.

Lautaro Martinez cannot play the opening Serie A match against Genoa on Saturday August 21 anyway, as he must sit out a ban.

That makes the arrival of Edin Dzeko from Roma all the more important, with few other forward options following Romelu Lukaku’s sale to Chelsea.

Dzeko had his medical earlier this week, but some paperwork remains before he can complete the transfer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the missing details are to do with outstanding payments owed to the player by Roma.

His transfer is essentially free, with only €1.9m in bonuses paid if Inter qualify for the Champions League.
