Milan midfielder Franck Kessie has reportedly sustained a muscular lesion to his flexor, which will keep him out of action for several weeks.

There had been concerns on how the Ivorian would work through the long summer, having skipped pre-season to play at the Olympics in Tokyo, then returned straight to begin work with the Rossoneri.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Kessie felt a muscular twinge in training yesterday and tests have now shown a lesion to the flexor.

Depending on the degree of the lesion, it could keep the midfielder out of action for several weeks.

He will almost certainly miss the Serie A season opener against Sampdoria on Monday August 23.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also ruled out of that game, as he must not rush the comeback after surgery forced him to miss the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament for Sweden.

The good news is that Ismael Bennacer is back in training this week after he had been forced to self-isolate when testing positive for COVID-19.

  1. Well this was coming. The guy has been playing nonstop for a few years now. He should never have gone to the Olympics. I’m astounded that Milan green lighted such a stupid thing.
