Sporting director Piero Ausilio said the meeting with Inter coach Antonio Conte was ‘fruitful’ and that the management ‘shared his ideas and strategy’.

Conte and Inter confirmed their collaboration will continue after the Europa League Final defeat to Sevilla and Ausilio insists they are working to improve the squad at San Siro.

“More than a pact, I think that a common idea came out at work. It was a fruitful meeting,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “An idea and a strategy came out, that of the coach.

“It was shared by the management, but above all from the ownership that has given us an important guideline. Everything we do is in line with what has been established.”

Ausilio was linked with the vacant position at Roma, but claimed he never talked to the Giallorossi.

“The talks never started because I have recently renewed my contract at Inter and I’m committed to this club.

“It has been said that I have differences with the coach, but he is a coach with whom I talk to daily and with whom I have a very normal relationship.

“We cleared the air 100 per cent, talked to each other and said things to each other face to face. We all have a unique vision that we carry forward together.

The director has admitted Inter have to sell to buy and revealed ‘limited resources’ on the transfer market.

“Our reality is that of a club that has to make sensible purchases which, however, must mainly go through sales.

“We know what we must do, but first, we have to go through the exits and bring in players through them.

“The idea is to improve this team, but we have to deal with the reality of this transfer market, where it’s difficult to sell. For now, we have limited resources that we will have to improve by selling.”

Even though Inter need to sell to bring in reinforcements, he will not be willing to part with anyone.

“There are players who can be more or less on the transfer market, because they have less opportunities or they don’t fit in the plans and want more chances.

“We have to seize the opportunities and I repeat it. [Romelu] Lukaku for example, I have to say is more non-transferable than transferable."
