Andrea Pinamonti turned down every other option and it looks as if he might get his sought-after Atalanta move from Inter this week.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the next few days will be decisive to bring the 23-year-old to Bergamo.

Inter put the centre-forward on sale after an impressive campaign on loan at Empoli, where he scored 13 goals in 36 Serie A appearances.

Pinamonti rejected clubs including Monza and Salernitana, despite Inter agreeing the €20m transfer fee, as he wanted a club with more ambition.

Sassuolo were also mentioned, but he had his heart set on Atalanta and they should be able to finalise the details later this week.

A product of the Inter youth academy, Pinamonti had loan experiences at Frosinone, Genoa and Empoli, but was eager for a permanent transfer to put an end to that on-going uncertainty in his career.

His contract with the Nerazzurri is due to expire in June 2024.

  1. Agreed, this should give Atalanta a boost after last season’s dropoff in performance. Their attacks didn’t seem as spirited, hopefully Pinamonti can change that.
