Matias Vecino has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Lazio after undergoing his medical, as a free agent after leaving Inter.

The midfielder turns 31 later this month and had been at Inter since leaving Fiorentina for €24m in the summer of 2017.

Before that, the Uruguay international spent most of his career in Italy, coming to Fiorentina in January 2013, also playing on loan at Cagliari and Empoli.

It was at Empoli in the 2014-15 season that Vecino first worked with coach Maurizio Sarri and the pair have reunited now at the Stadio Olimpico.

A statement on the official Lazio website confirmed Vecino has signed a three-year contract.

He had made 23 competitive appearances in the Inter jersey last season, contributing one Serie A goal.

The Biancocelesti confirmed that Vecino will join full training with the rest of his new teammates from Wednesday.

  1. Good luck, you scored many goals for us. And, he looks like Josh Zuckerman. Or it’s just me? 😛
