Pablo Mari, who was stabbed during an attack in a supermarket earlier this week, has now been discharged from hospital.

The 29-year-old Spaniard was one of five people attacked by 46-year-old Andrea Tombolini in a Carrefour supermarket in the Milanofiori di Assago shopping centre on the outskirts of Milan earlier this week. Tragically, 47-year-old Carrefour employee Luis Fernando Ruggieri was killed, and Mari suffered a deep wound to his back, forcing him to undergo surgery.

As announced by Sky Sports Italia, Mari has been discharged from Niguarda hospital and has returned home. The 29-year-old will now rest whilst slowly working on his recovery, which is expected to take around two to three months.

Monza officially thanked Professor Osvaldo Chiara and all those working at the Trauma Center of the Niguarda Hospital, who cared for Mari during his time in hospital.

The Lombardy club had asked for tomorrow’s clash with Bologna to be postponed as a result of the incident but this request was denied by Lega Serie A.
