According to reports in Italy, Aston Villa scouted Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur during yesterday’s match against Milan.

Goal.com’s Romeo Agresti claims Aston Villa scouted the former Boca man during yesterday’s Serie A clash against the Rossoneri. Bentancur played 89 minutes at San Siro with Adrien Rabiot replacing him for the final minutes of the match.

New Villa coach Steven Gerrard has identified the 24-year-old as an ‘ideal reinforcement’ in the middle of the park after the signing of Coutinho from Barcelona.

However, according to the report, the Premier League side has not yet placed an official bid, while Juventus owe Boca Juniors 35% of any future sale.

The Uruguay international has played 26 games with the Bianconeri this term, delivering three assists. He has scored three goals in 181 appearances with the Bianconeri.

He joined the Old Lady in a €15m deal from Boca Juniors in 2017. Juventus managed to obtain an option to secure his services when they sent Carlos Tevez back to the Bombonera on a free transfer.

  1. I’d be happy at this sale, they can have Rabiot too! He’s been so average at Juve, but who knows maybe Gerrard can unlock this “potential” that everyone sees in him.

  2. Locatelli and Bentancur are not a great paring under Allegri mainly due to his style of trying convert every midfielder into a deep lying defensive mid. Coutinho and Bentancur would actually make a great pairing I think.

  3. For a second I thought it was Tonali they werrr after.. phew.

I’d say he is almost on pair with Barella at this point. Incredible talent for being 21 years old

  4. Fagioli and Rovella are far better than Bentancur, but they are too young for Allegri. This news would be promising for Juv.

  5. @DMUSTAC

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. Bentancur is a walking fouler. He does nothing bar clattering into people and giving away fouls. Man of the match hahahaha.

  6. There was no MOTM. But if there was it certainly wasn’t a Juve player (written by a Juve fan).

IIRC, the Andata was a pretty good match, iirc. A pity yesterday’s posticipo was trash. Juve will feel the absence of Chiesa.

  7. yeah, ok, chiellini was official motm, but rodrigo collected a lot of balls, with losing few. middle was unbreakable with his runs, won most of the duels.

  8. Completely agree with you @DMUSTAC! Maybe people on here never actually played the game so don’t understand what he brings. Let bentancur sit deep and push Locatelli further forward.
