Carlo Ancelotti was incredibly humble ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Manchester City.

The Italian coach wrote himself into the history books following his successful season in Spain, where he won the club’s 35th La Liga title. Ancelotti became the first coach to win all of Europe’s top five leagues, and he also became the first coach to take part in the Champions League semi-finals in four different decades, an amazing sign of adaptability and quality.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, Ancelotti first remained humble when discussing his career so far.

“I don’t feel like an emperor but like a lucky man after having reached an important milestone, nothing more.

“When I look in the mirror I see a white-haired man who has the same desire as when he started. I’ve been lucky enough to coach great teams and I’ve won trophies, but to talk about greatness is exaggerating.”

He touched on what kind of working relationship he has with son Davide.

“A working relationship, precisely. He is a serious, competent and capable assistant like the others. He will become a great coach, I will certainly be his fan.”

The Italian coach commented on his plans for the future.

“I’d like to stay here for many years and then do other things. If Real Madrid keep me here for 10 years I will coach for 10 years, then I’ll stop.”

Finally, Ancelotti spoke about if he’d coach a national team in the future.

“Definitely not for this World Cup, let’s see for 2026…. Canada? Why not Canada? Italy? They have to think about qualification first.”

Real Madrid lost the first leg of the semi-finals against Manchester City 4-3, so they’ll be hoping for another memorable home performance this evening.
