Serie A regular Daniele Orsato has the honour of officiating Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final clash against Manchester City.

The 46-year-old Italian referee has been a FIFA listed referee since 2010 and has worked in the Champions League since the 2012-13 season. He has overseen a number of big European clashes in the past, including the 2020 UEFA Champions League Final between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, as well as the semi-final clash that season between Real Madrid and Chelsea.

Orsato, who was considered the best referee of 2020 by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics, has overseen five Real Madrid matches in the past, with the most recent being two Champions League defeats; 1-0 to PSG back in February of this year and 2-0 to Chelsea 12 months ago.

The Italian referee has officiated four Manchester City games, three of which were wins and one of which was the 2-1 group stage loss to Lyon back in the 2018-19 campaign.
