Massimiliano Allegri’s mentor Giovanni Galeone believes Juventus must sign a new centre-back and mentions Kalidou Koulibaly and Strahinja Pavlovic as ‘ideal options’ for the Bianconeri.

The Old Lady has climbed the table thanks to six wins in a row in Serie A. Since their 2-0 loss at Milan in October, Juventus scored 12 goals, conceding 0 and are now the less-beaten defence in the league with just seven goals conceded so far.

Galeone had been critical of Juventus’ transfer strategies and sees Allegri has the principal architect of Juventus’ resurrection.

“I know Max well and I’ve never thought he was finished. As I said many times, he was the only one who could turn the situation around and in fact, Juventus have climbed to third place,” he told Gazzetta.

However, Galeone believes the Bianconeri have little chance of winning the title this season, considering Napoli‘s performances and results.

“It’s hard because I don’t think Napoli will slow down in 2023, Inter are also very strong. It’s hard to make predictions now, you have to see the impact of the World Cup.”

Luciano Spalletti’s men are the only unbeaten team in Serie A. They are eight points clear of Milan in second place and have 10 points more than the Old Lady.

So, what do Juventus need to raise the bar and become even more competitive?

“Max needs a left-footed central defender. Bremer feels more at ease in the middle and Danilo on the right. It will be hard to sign a top player in January. [Kalidou] Koulibaly would be ideal in the summer and I have a weakness for[ Strahinja] Pavlovic, defender of Serbia and Salzburg.”

  1. never heard of the serb – anyone know if he’s any good – been capped good amount for serbia,

  2. The only strategy the 1/6 should be looking at is replacing her with Conte as he is unlikely to extend with Spuds.
