Massimiliano Allegri admits that he ran the risk of being sacked, but believes Milan will hit back in the second half of the season.

The Rossoneri made mass changes to their squad in the summer and they’ve already lost seven of their first 18 games so far.

“I think the club did well because they could have changed Coach in a moment of difficulty,” the tactician told Sky Sport Italia.

“When results are missing then it is the Coach who pays the price.”

Milan did see an upturn in results recently, but they lost heavily in Rome on Saturday night against a rampant Roma.

“I’m sure that we’ll have a good second half of the season,” Allegri added. “We’re behind in the standings so we have nothing to lose.

“It will be fundamental that we beat Siena when the championship restarts and that we get to the half-way point of the League with 30 points on the board.

“We know that we can’t fix the League table in a month or a game and we are aware that we have some really important matches from now until February.”

Milan are seventh, eight points away from the Champions League zone and a massive 17 shy of leaders Juventus.
