According to Mundo Deportivo newspaper, Allegri’s agents proposed the former Milan and Juventus coach for the Camp Nou bench.

He is currently taking a sabbatical after the end of his rapport with Juve, having won five consecutive Serie A titles and reached two Champions League Finals.

Other candidates include recently sacked Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, ex-Real Betis coach Quique Setien and current Estudiantes de La Plata boss Gabriel Milito.

Barcelona will face Napoli in the Champions League Round of 16 next month, but without Luis Suarez, as the striker has been ruled out for four months by injury.
