Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that he’ll need a new striker if the club sell Robinho and Alexandre Pato in January.

The duo do have offers from Brazil and Vice-President Adriano Galliani is set to fly to South America on Sunday for talks.

“If Pato and Robinho leave then we’ll need another striker,” Allegri stated on Friday afternoon. “Five attackers is the right number, but it all depends on Galliani’s trip.

“From that we will look at what the best solutions are to strengthen the team. But talking about this now makes no sense.

“If a player arrives then it will be an important player and if it is an important player then they would probably have already played in the Champions League this season.”

The transfer rumour mill is suggesting that Milan could offload the pair to then make a bid for Mario Balotelli.

“I’ve never trained Balotelli and until I do I can’t pass judgment on him,” the tactician added. “He’s a Manchester City player and there’s no point talking about him.

“Javier Pastore? I don’t think Paris Saint-Germain will let him leave.”

Turning to on field matters, Allegri is looking forward to the prospect of facing Zdenek Zeman’s Roma on Saturday.

“I think he’s one of the best Coaches around. Roma are a team that once they start to play and develop their attacking part of the game, they get very dangerous.

“We have to play a good game from every point of view knowing that we’ll be up against one of the three best teams in the League with players that suit Zeman’s game well.

“In their way of playing Roma tend to leave you some space even though lately, they’ve been conceding a lot less. We’ll have to play an intelligent game.”

Giampaolo Pazzini will start against the Giallorossi, as will goalkeeper Marco Amelia and stopper Mario Yepes.

“I won’t give myself any marks out of 10 for the year,” Allegri added. “I can divide this year in two parts. In the first six months, I had one team and for the second part of the year, another team.

“Regrets? Losing a League title that we had won.”
