Jose Mauri’s agent says Milan are in pole position for the Parma midfielder’s signature.

The 19-year-old has been one of the few bright spots for the Ducali in a troubled season, and has been linked with a number of top clubs.

“Milan are strongly interested in the lad,” Dino Zampacorta revealed in an interview with MilanNews.

“Not just now, but for months.

“Do they have an advantage? Definitely, it’s a matter of respect for the Rossoneri.

“Jose believes in his qualities and will back himself, he’s ambitious and he wants to make a career for himself, so he’ll look at who gives technical guarantees.

“We’ve rejected higher salaries, because the lad wants to play. Milan need several midfielders and he could be one of them, he could play with those who have more experience.

“However, it’s not just Milan who have offered these assurances, there are at least four clubs, so it depends.

“I have good relations with several clubs, with [Milan’s Adriano] Galliani, [Inter’s Piero] Ausilio or [Roma’s Walter] Sabatini. I try to have a good relationship with everyone.”

Zampacorta also admitted that his client’s future hinges on the future of his club, with Parma struggling to find a buyer to avoid being consigned to the amateur leagues.

“The third auction for Parma attracted no bids, that’s to be expected. There will be two more, the last one will be on May 28.

“If someone comes in and saves Parma, then the lad has a contract until June 30, 2016, so if anyone wanted him they’d have to talk to Parma.

“If nobody buys Parma, then all the players will be released.”
