Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent claims he could’ve done a deal with Juventus or Roma, but his client is happy to stay at Napoli.

The winger has barely featured for the Partenopei this season, and his representative publicly declared that he wanted to leave.

However, yesterday’s transfer window passed without Giaccherini making a move and it now appears he’s happy to stay at San Paolo.

“I want to explain what happened,” Furio Valcareggi said on Radio Marte.

However, yesterday’s transfer window passed without Giaccherini making a move and it now appears he’s happy to stay at San Paolo.

“I want to explain what happened,” Furio Valcareggi said on Radio Marte.

“Giaccherini will stay at Napoli. There were some overtures, Juventus and Roma sought him out, I told [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli about it and he treated me very badly, but I had to do my job.

“In front of such prestigious offers I had to act, but the thing that makes me proud is that Napoli didn’t sell him, it means we didn’t choose wrongly when joining the Azzurri.

“It shows that they want to keep the lad and haven’t lost a shred of confidence in him. Giaccherini will stay at Napoli without the slightest problem, he chose Napoli and rejected Torino when there was already a deal in place.

“Giuntoli and I are both Tuscans, and our talks involved some raised voices but we’re both happy with the final outcome.

“I could not, however, have refused to listen to those two offers.”

Giaccherini previously spent two seasons with Juve, before moving to Sunderland in the summer of 2013.
