Aurelio De Laurentiis claims a “righteous” Napoli are competing with Inter and Juventus who both “got themselves into debt” and Milan who are “on the brink”.
Having already caused controversy with his comments about several Napoli figures, De Laurentiis chose to change his targets and take aim at three of his club’s Serie A rivals.
“Our objectives are always the same: achieving the maximum, in the League, Coppa Italia and Champions League. We can’t do more than that,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“We’re doing this through intelligent management, which produces a positive balance, because we can’t go in the red.
“That’s the reality: we’re not allowed to get into debt. This Napoli have had an international-calibre Coach like Benitez and now one with a universal profile like Ancelotti.
“We haven’t missed anything. I’m a football industrialist, like it or not but that’s how it goes.
“I have to combine the factors of production with economic ones. With Mazzarri, we got into the Champions League with a wage bill of €35m.
“Now we can say it has quadrupled. Juve and Inter got themselves into debt, Milan are on the brink and we’ve always been righteous and competitive.”
The Partenopei patron was involved in a long-running feud with Maurizio Sarri after he left for Chelsea last year, and the Coach has since returned to Italy with Juve.
“Sarri’s a great Coach with many positives and some negatives, who could’ve disappeared in England.
“He’s doing well at a club that has a winning culture, its own rigorous style and in a city that is less distracting than Milan, Rome and Naples.”
Despite criticising their ownership model, the 70-year-old believes the Nerazzurri can win the Scudetto this season.
“Of course: they have Conte who’s a very good Coach.”
