Tammy Abraham did not have a good match in the 1-0 loss to Napoli and was heavily criticised by the Italian press.

The Giallorossi struggled to match the intensity of Luciano Spalletti’s side at the Stadio Olimpico yesterday and fell to a late Victor Osimhen goal, leaving them scratching their heads after the full time whistle. Roma took no shots on target in the match, the first time they’ve looked so toothless in almost seven years.

La Gazzetta dello Sport underlined Abraham’s limited contributions to the match, noting how “the commitment was there, but by now technically and tactically he doesn’t seem to know what he should do.” Abraham took only one shot in the match and completed only nine passes, being ineffective in the final third.

Corriere dello Sport was even harsher than their colleagues in Milan, suggesting that “he practically doesn’t rub it in, and not simply because he gets few balls, he has a clear allergy with other teams’ penalty area.”

Tuttosport echoed these sentiments and highlighted how Roma’s opponents do not need to fear Abraham this season, saying “machinistic, always imprecise in the finishing touches. It’s too easy for the opponents.”

Abraham’s ratings in the Italian newspapers

Gazzetta dello Sport: 5

Corriere dello Sport: 4.5

Tuttosport: 4.5

  1. He cannot think and make good use of the chances effectively. Too overwhelming on thinking to score goals insreas of playing the game intelligently. Maybe he should be replaced and sold off at a good price.
