Serie A strugglers Sampdoria will be hoping to have something to smile about this evening as they travel to face Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.
The match between the Viola and the Blucerchiati kicks off at 17.00 UK time at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence.
Fiorentina reached the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia last season, being knocked out by bitter rivals Juventus after defeats in both legs. They last reached the final in the 2013-14 season, when they lost to Napoli, and their last victory came in the 2000-01 campaign, when they edged out Parma in the final.
Sampdoria have not progressed further than the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia since the 2010-11 campaign, when they were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Milan. The Ligurian outfit reached the final in the 2008-09 year, losing on penalties to Lazio, and their last time lifting the trophy came in the 1993-94 season, when they beat Ancona in the final.
Arthur Cabral, Pietro Terracciano, Rolando Mandragora and Riccardo Saponara are all out injured for Fiorentina.
Sampdoria will have to do without Fabio Quagliarella, Andrea Conti, Manolo Gabbiadini, Ignacio Pussetto and Manuel De Luca.
