Roma legend Francesco Totti would like to play tonight’s Conference League Final against Feyenoord and understands Kylian Mbappé’s decision to snub a move to Real Madrid: ‘I did the same…’

The legendary Giallorossi captain won the Scudetto with Roma in 2001 but has never won a European cup with the Capitoline. He will be in Tirana to watch the Conference League Final against Feyenoord tonight, but he’d rather be on the pitch.

“I am tense, I would love to play it; everyone would like to do so,” he told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Voce Giallorossa.

The 2006 Italy World Cup winner also spoke to RMC Sport ahead of tonight’s big game in Tirana, but the France radio station asked his thoughts on Mbappé’s decision to extend with PSG, snubbing an offer from Real Madrid.

“He listened to his heart, he was raised in Paris. It’s not easy to turn down Real Madrid. I did it 20 years ago to stay at Roma,” said Totti.

Totti rejected the chance to join the Merengues in 2002 when the Merengues had offered €80m to secure his services from the Giallorossi.

However, contrary to Totti, Mbappé is not a product of the club academy but joined the Ligue 1 giants in 2018 after thriving in the youth sectors of AS Bondy and AS Monaco.

  1. Mbappe is staying for seven hundred plus million reasons but will still win titles! Totti stayed to continue being a medium size fish in a small pond and pick up the coppa italia!
