Pavel Nedved insists Mattia De Sciglio and Paulo Dybala are the present and future of Juventus ahead of today’s clash with Napoli, but is ‘not surprised’ Cristiano Ronaldo scored on his Manchester United debut.

It kicks off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

“It is a tough game, certainly, we want to play like Juve, with heart, and the club is close to the team. It’s only the third round, but we want to do well during a tricky moment,” Juventus vice-president Nedved told DAZN.

“You say we have a young team, I say it’s also a new team, so we are trying to mix the more experienced figures with those we introduced and believe in for the present and above all future of this club.

“The prospects of this team are immense and we have great faith in them.”

Former Bianconeri star Ronaldo found the net twice in his first game for Manchester United, playing against Newcastle United this afternoon.

“I am not surprised that Cristiano scored!” he laughed.

Juve are also in negotiations to extend Dybala’s contract, as it only runs to June 2022 and there’s the very real risk of losing him as a free agent.

“We are progressing well with Dybala, I was there for some phases of negotiations, we are very confident and hope to do a deal soon.”

De Sciglio is in the starting XI this evening, having spent last season on loan at Olympique Lyonnais, as the South American players were all left behind in Turin due to their late return from international duty.

“I consider De Sciglio to be an excellent defender. His career has stalled due to injuries, but there are few who play with his technique and clean passing,” insisted Nedved.

“He worked with us throughout pre-season training and I hope he can remain fit to become an important element of this team.”

  1. Can someone sack this muppet Nedved …. Loan out a player year on year not of any high team calibration of play and yet Nedved says Sciglio is the future of juventus really can someone HELP this club please …. Good to see CR7 still the superman of goals Man U fans are over the world today debut 2 goals, but hold on we got Dybala the future and oh yes rabiot had great news boss told him score more goals. After he learns how to keep and get the ball oh by the way am a Juve fan for 25 years

  2. Nedved is doing more harm than good. Why isn’t Deligt the future? You only paid €75 million for him.

  3. Our club is in a state of complete delusion now…

I thought Cherubini saying Juve never having the slightest interest in Donnaruma because we have Sczeny was ripe… but stating De Sciglio is the future now?

Juventus’ current executives just make up their own reality as they go and whichever way that will make it seem like they know what they’re doing, that they have a plan, and that our eyes are lying to us.

Juve went from being one of Europe’s best run clubs to a complete mess since Marotta left.

  4. lol @ MDS being a complete failure as a player the future of Juventus
Nedved was a monster as a player, as for his management role, he is clueless

  5. Excuse me, but Nedved never says “De Sciglio is the present and future of Juventus“, let alone insist it. The “present and future” bit was completely unrelated to talking about De Sciglio. Strange journalism there, Football Italia.

  6. Sums up the club. Completely delusional. De Sciglio is the future. Lyon did not even want to buy him. I do not hear any big teams calling for him or for any of the garbage collectors in this team. Where are the big clubs coming for Arsenal reject Szezceny, Rabiot, Bentancur and the new Bernadeschi (Kuludeschi)
