Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli hopes taking on a weakened Juventus will help the Partenopei ‘become fully aware of our potential’ after two wins out of two.
It kicks off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).
“We have to improve our mentality and become fully aware of our potential, and that is something that today’s game could really help us with,” the director of sport told DAZN.
The Partenopei have certainly started strong under new coach Luciano Spalletti, winning both Serie A games against Venezia – despite being down to 10 men – and Genoa.
There is an injury crisis in midfield at the moment, so Anguissa is thrown straight into the starting XI after his deadline day move on loan with option to buy from Fulham.
“The idea for Anguissa came because we were looking for a midfielder with characteristics we didn’t have elsewhere in the squad. We didn’t want to lose anything in terms of possession and passing, so we went for Anguissa, having tracked him during his time at Villarreal.
“The characteristics of this squad is to have a lot of horsepower, and Spalletti knows how to make the most of those elements. He focuses on the details and the team seems more confident now.”
Napoli had been expected to pick up a left-back on the transfer market, but the opportunity never arose.
“We would’ve gladly signed a left-back if the right conditions had been there, but the coach saw that we have many lads who can play there. Zanoli really impressed in pre-season and Faouzi Ghoulam is recovering quickly.”
