Rudi Garcia doesn’t rule out a return to Serie A but revealed he must ‘feel’ it’s the right project for him to ‘do something beautiful, like when I went to Roma’.
Garcia helped Roma finish second in the League in 2013-14 and 2014-15 but left the club after a disappointing third season.
The 57-year-old is without a job after leaving Olympique Lyonnais and the Frenchman enjoys ‘the luxury’ of having some time off, but admitted he had various offers this summer.
“I have the luxury of having some time for myself, for my business and my family,” Garcia told Radio Marte. “Things that often don’t happen to coaches.
“I turned down some offers this summer, especially the very economical ones but from clubs that don’t play in the Champions League.
“I also rejected a proposal from a team in the Champions League, but you have to like the project, feel the intuition that you can do something beautiful where you go, like when I went to Roma.”
Juventus dominated during his time in Serie A and Garcia admitted he would have liked to compete in a more open Italian championship.
“Yes, we were really close the first year. In Italy there are many strong teams with many great coaches,” Garcia continued. “Maybe I’ll be back, let’s see!
“Italy is in my heart; I would like to discover England and Spain, but Italy is also a possibility. I follow and will follow Serie A very carefully.”
